April feels warm and comfortably beachy, with afternoons near 25°C and evenings still mild. You'll get plenty of sunshine, though brief showers can interrupt a beach day. Rain falls on several days, but April is much drier than May.

Swimming, snorkelling and strolling through downtown Nassau all work well. The humidity is noticeable, so a long walk up to Fort Fincastle may feel tiring in the afternoon. Save longer sightseeing for a cooler part of the day, and keep a flexible plan for rain.

Easter and crowds

Easter can fall in April, bringing Good Friday and Easter Monday holidays. Some local businesses may close or shorten their hours, while beaches and restaurants can feel busier over the holiday weekend. Nassau also gets spring-break visitors, so expect more people around Cable Beach and the cruise port at busy times.

Families travelling during school breaks may find the holiday crowds worth weighing against easier beach weather. Outside Easter and spring-break weeks, April can feel calmer than the winter peak. Prices often ease after January to March, but holiday dates can still be costly.

Make your plans local

April is a good time to take a boat trip to Rose Island or swim at Cabbage Beach. If showers roll in, explore the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas or the covered stalls at the Straw Market instead. Don't count on May's heavier rain arriving yet, but leave room to shift plans.

For a practical Nassau tip, take the jitney along Bay Street between downtown and Cable Beach. These shared minibuses follow set routes, but don't run like a clockwork timetable. Ask the driver if the bus is heading your way before you climb aboard. After sightseeing, try conch salad at Arawak Cay, the local Fish Fry area.
