Nassau feels warm and humid in November, but it's noticeably drier than October. Highs reach 26°C, and you'll see rain on about 10 days. Showers can cut into a beach afternoon, so it helps to have a city stop in mind as a backup.

The 5.6 hours of daily sun are good for swims at Cable Beach and walks around downtown. The Queen's Staircase is easier to explore than in the hotter months, though its steps can be slippery after rain. If the forecast looks unsettled, hold off on long boat trips until the skies clear.

Events and crowds

Junkanoo groups are busy preparing for the parades on Boxing Day and New Year's Day, so November is a good time to learn about the tradition at the Educulture Junkanoo Museum. You won't see the main street parade yet, though. US Thanksgiving can bring extra visitors to the resorts, even though it isn't a Bahamian holiday.

Overall, November is quieter and less expensive than the high season from January to March. Prices and crowds may rise around Thanksgiving and climb again in December, when winter visitors start to arrive. If you prefer calmer beaches, early November is a better bet than the holiday rush.

Getting around

A brief shower doesn't have to spoil the day. When it passes, you can visit the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas or browse the downtown shops, then head back to the water. Humidity is still high, so a walk around Fort Fincastle can feel sticky in the middle of the day.

For an easy local tip, take the ferry from downtown Nassau to Paradise Island instead of driving across the bridge. You'll get harbour views on the way, and you can pair the trip with a visit to the Versailles Gardens. If rain or rough water rolls in, check ferry service locally before you set out.
