Getting around Nagoya in May

May is a useful month for mixing outdoor sightseeing with museums and food stops. Take the subway to Atsuta-jingu Shrine for a quiet walk beneath its trees, then try hitsumabushi nearby. This grilled eel dish is served with rice, and you can eat it in several ways.

Travelling with kids? Nagoya City Science Museum makes a good rainy-day stop, with hands-on exhibits near Fushimi. May isn't as reliably dry as autumn, but it's less hot than June and still gives you long daylight for exploring.
