Visiting Marbella in April
April weather
Marbella feels properly springlike in April. Afternoons can reach 20°C, while evenings cool to around 13°C. You'll get plenty of sunshine, but showers still visit, so don't count on every beach day staying dry.
It's a good month for wandering Marbella's Old Town, with its white lanes and Orange Square, or taking a coastal walk along the Paseo Marítimo. The hills around La Concha suit experienced hikers on clear, dry days. The sea can feel chilly, so treat the beach as a place for a stroll rather than a guaranteed swim.
Easter and crowds
Semana Santa, or Holy Week, brings religious processions through Marbella when Easter falls in April. Expect decorated floats, music and busy streets around the Old Town. Dates change each year, so April won't always include the celebrations.
Outside Easter, April is quieter than the peak summer months, and prices are generally less pressured. The holiday period can bring a short burst of visitors and higher rates, especially near the centre and seafront. Families who prefer calm sightseeing may find the weeks away from Easter easier.
A local tip
Rain falls on about seven days in April, so a shower can interrupt an outdoor plan. Keep the Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo in the Old Town in mind for a rainy spell; it gives you an indoor stop close to the historic lanes.
If you're heading to a Semana Santa procession, arrive near the route before it reaches the narrow streets around Orange Square. Crowds can slow your walk, and some lanes may be hard to cross once a procession passes. Outside the festival, those same streets are lovely for an unhurried wander.
