Crowds, costs and a local tip

December is much quieter than Marbella's busy summer, and accommodation often costs less than in peak months. It's not as dependable for sunshine as spring or early autumn, though, so you may trade pool days for café stops and indoor visits.

Rain can leave the polished stones in the Old Town slippery. If you're heading to Plaza de los Naranjos after a shower, take the flatter route along Avenida del Mar rather than hurrying through the narrow lanes. The seaside promenade is another good fallback when the weather clears.
