April: wet-season days

April feels warm, sticky and often grey. Rain falls on most days, and the air stays humid, so a long walk around central Manaus can feel tiring. Showers may interrupt boat trips and forest outings, though they don't rule them out. Keep plans flexible and choose shorter excursions with covered places to shelter.

You'll still have good options in town. Visit the Teatro Amazonas or browse the covered Mercado Adolpho Lisboa between showers. April has about 1.8 hours of sunshine a day, so don't count on a full afternoon at Ponta Negra beach.

Holidays and local plans

Easter brings church services and family gatherings, while April 21 is Tiradentes Day, a national holiday in Brazil. Some businesses may close or change their hours around these days. Manaus doesn't have a major annual city festival in April, so the holiday calendar is more noticeable than a big event.
