October is one of Jiangyin's better months for being outdoors. Days feel mild, while evenings cool down, and the air is less sticky than in September. Rain is lighter than the month before, though showers still interrupt some plans. The comfortable conditions suit walks around Huangshan Lake Park and visits to Xingguo Temple.

You'll have less daylight than in summer, so long outings can feel rushed by late afternoon. Keep indoor stops, such as Jiangyin Museum, in mind for a rainy spell.

Things to do

October works well for exploring the riverside and Jiangyin's historic sights without the heavy summer heat. The Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge is a striking landmark, though views can look muted on cloudy days. Save exposed riverside walks for a dry spell, and don't count on a full beach day here; Jiangyin is better for parks and city sights.
