November is one of the easiest months to spend outside in Houston. Afternoons stay warm, evenings cool down, and you'll find more comfortable walking weather than in October, when the highs run hotter and the rain falls heavier. That makes it a good time for an easy day in Hermann Park or the Museum District, with museums close by if showers roll in.

Rain still visits, though, so don't build your whole day around dry skies. When the clouds close in, the Menil Collection or Space Center Houston make good indoor options. Daylight is shorter this time of year, so save the long outings for the morning.

Thanksgiving in Houston

Thanksgiving is the big November holiday, and the city shows it. The H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade rolls through downtown with floats and marching bands, and the route brings road closures and crowds. Check the parade details before you pick a hotel or plan any driving near the route.

If big crowds aren't your thing, aim for a non-holiday week instead and spend that time at Buffalo Bayou Park.

November is one of Houston's best months to visit, and it's usually quieter than the summer rush. Prices can be easier on the wallet than at peak travel times, though the holiday week is the exception, when demand can push hotel rates up.
