March and April are among Erbil's best months, so expect more visitors than during the hot summer. It's not necessarily the busiest time of year, though, and prices can feel more moderate than in peak travel periods. November is another popular month.

If you hate crowds, visit the Citadel early in the day, then wander down into Qaysari Bazaar as the lanes fill. Travelling with kids? The park gives you room to slow down between sightseeing stops. Keep a rainy-day plan nearby: the bazaar is a useful shelter, not just a shopping stop.
