Djibouti Weather in February

February: warm and mostly sunny

February is one of Djibouti's most comfortable months. Days reach 29°C, while evenings stay warm at 23°C. Humidity is noticeable, but rain is scarce, and you'll usually get plenty of sun.

That suits a boat trip on the Gulf of Tadjoura or a walk around Djibouti City's Place Menelik. You can also make the drive to Lake Assal without the heavier rain that arrives later. Save strenuous walks in exposed spots for cooler parts of the day; the sun can still feel strong.

What to do, and what to skip

For a swim or snorkel, look towards the Gulf of Tadjoura, where boat trips leave for reefs and islands. February is a better bet for outdoor sightseeing than the hotter months ahead. The city's Central Market is another good stop, though its busy lanes can feel sticky in the afternoon.

For Lake Assal, arrange a suitable vehicle and driver in Djibouti City. The route crosses remote, stark terrain, and the lake sits far below sea level. Bring water for the drive, not just for the stop.
