October weather

October feels warm rather than summery in Chania. Afternoons reach 23°C, while evenings stay mild, so you can wander the Old Town or sit by the Venetian Harbour without the peak-summer heat. There's still plenty of sun, but rain falls on several days and skies can turn cloudy.

It's a good month for walking the harbour, visiting the Archaeological Museum and exploring villages inland. Beach time can still work on sunny days, but don't count on a full week of settled weather. September is hotter and much drier, so avoid planning October around guaranteed beach days.

The gorge's season usually ends in autumn, and access can change with weather and safety conditions. If it's closed, explore Chania's covered market area and the nearby streets instead.
