Bodrum Weather in July

July: hot, bright days

Bodrum in July is reliably hot, with warm nights and almost no rain. The sun is strong, and the long, clear days make boat trips around the peninsula and swims in Bitez Bay easy to enjoy. But sightseeing in the open can feel tiring by afternoon. Save the exposed paths around the ancient Theatre for cooler hours, and spend the hottest part of the day in a shaded café near the marina.

If you hate crowds, July probably isn't your month.

Festivals and summer evenings

The Bodrum International Ballet Festival is a regular summer event, often held in July at Bodrum Castle. Performances here make a memorable evening, but dates vary from year to year. Check the festival programme before you travel.

The castle's stone walls and the harbour are much more pleasant after the day's heat has eased. You can also make dinner part of the evening: try Çökertme kebabı, a local dish of thinly sliced meat served over crisp potatoes.

Crowds, costs and a local tip

July is peak season. Expect busy beaches, lively waterfront restaurants and higher accommodation prices than in spring or autumn. It's also busier than June, when the weather is milder, and the months from September to November are among Bodrum's best overall.

Travelling with kids? Plan beach time for the gentler parts of the day, then head into Bodrum town as it cools. For a practical local trick, take a dolmuş (shared minibus) to Bitez rather than relying on a car near the beach. The roads and parking can feel cramped in high season.
