December: warm and mostly settled

December feels warm from morning to evening, with little change between daytime and night. You'll get plenty of sun, though brief showers can still interrupt a walk. The month is much drier than November, so it's a good time to explore Basseterre's Georgian buildings, visit Independence Square or take a beach break.

Rain falls on several days, so don't count on every outing staying dry. For a long hike up Mount Liamuiga, a wet spell can make the trail muddy; save the climb for a clearer day. Beach time and city sightseeing are easier bets.

Carnival and Christmas

Prices are generally higher than in wetter November, so expect less choice in busy holiday periods.

For a calmer look at town, visit Romney Manor and its Caribelle Batik workshop, then return to Basseterre after the busiest cruise hours. If you're heading to a Sugar Mas event, ask locally about road closures; parades can affect routes through the centre.
