Take the lift from the Upper Barrakka Gardens down to the waterfront, then catch a ferry across Grand Harbour to the Three Cities. It saves you the steep walk back up and gives you a memorable view of Valletta from the water. For a rainy spell, head inside to Casa Rocca Piccola, a historic house in the city centre.
