Tehran Weather in November

Mild days, chilly evenings

November feels like a proper step down from October. Days are cool rather than cold, but evenings can feel chilly, especially after sunset. Rain falls on several days, so a shower may interrupt a walk. The shorter daylight leaves less time for outdoor sightseeing, but the weather still works well for museums and the covered Grand Bazaar. You can also explore Sa'dabad Palace's grounds on a dry day. Skip long mountain hikes if rain has made paths slippery.

A quieter month

November is autumn, outside Tehran's busiest spring travel period. You'll generally find fewer visitors than in April, May or October, and accommodation may cost less than during those popular months. Local life carries on, though, so don't expect the city to feel empty. The 13 Aban national observance, known as Student Day, falls in early November. Rallies near the former US embassy can bring road closures and extra traffic.

If you hate crowds, November's quieter sights may suit you better than the spring rush.

Make the most of the day

With around 10 hours of daylight, keep outdoor visits for the brighter part of the day, then switch to indoor sights or a long Persian meal. Try dizi, a slow-cooked stew traditionally served in a stone pot, at a restaurant in the bazaar area. On rainy days, the National Museum of Iran is a handy choice near central Tehran. If you're visiting the former US embassy around 13 Aban, use the Tehran Metro to avoid streets affected by rallies.
