February feels warm and mostly dry in Surat. Afternoons reach 35°C, while mornings and evenings are milder, around 18°C. There's little rain, plenty of sun and only a short stretch of daylight compared with summer.

Save outdoor sightseeing for earlier or later in the day. You can explore the Dutch Garden or walk around Gopi Talav, then take a slower break indoors when the afternoon heat builds. Dumas Beach is better for an evening visit than a long midday stay. March gets hotter, so February is the easier choice for getting around outside.

What to do

Surat's food and shopping suit a warm-weather break. Try locho, a soft, savoury local snack, and browse the textile shops around Ring Road. If you're visiting temples, Maha Shivratri sometimes falls in February; its date changes each year, so local celebrations vary.

If you hate crowds, February is generally calmer than Surat's October-to-January peak season. It's also before the stronger heat of March, so demand may be lower than in the cooler months. Prices aren't fixed, though, and can rise around a festival or busy weekend.

A local tip

For a practical pause during a Ring Road shopping trip, stop for locho rather than crossing town for a meal. It's a Surat speciality, often served with chutney and sev, and makes an easy snack between shops.

Travelling with kids? Aim for Gopi Talav in the cooler part of the day, when the open space is more comfortable to explore. Don't plan a full afternoon of outdoor stops: February is dry, but the sun can still feel strong.
