June: intense summer heat

June in Sharm el-Sheikh is hot from morning to evening. Days reach 38°C, and nights stay warm at around 27°C. Rain is absent, skies are usually clear, and the sun feels strong over the Red Sea. It's not the easiest month for long walks or inland sightseeing.

You can still enjoy the sea, especially with a morning snorkelling trip or a dip near Naama Bay. Save Old Market and the SOHO Square promenade for after sunset, when wandering feels more comfortable. Skip long desert excursions in the middle of the day; the exposed heat can make them exhausting.

Events and local life

June has no fixed major festival that draws visitors to Sharm every year. Eid al-Adha sometimes falls in June, but its date shifts with the Islamic lunar calendar. If it coincides with your trip, expect a more festive feel and more local families out in the evenings.

If you hate crowds, June is often calmer than the cooler winter months, when Sharm is especially popular. It's also outside the main European summer-holiday rush for much of the month, so prices can be lower than in winter or peak summer. Heat is the trade-off, and late June may feel busier as school holidays begin in some countries.

Make the heat work for you

Travelling with kids? Keep beach time to the cooler morning, then take a long break indoors during the hottest part of the day. A boat trip to Ras Mohammed National Park can be a good fit: you'll spend much of it on the water, with snorkelling stops to cool off.

Ask your hotel about the boat's departure time and choose an early sailing if available. At Ras Mohammed, the sea is the main draw; don't expect a shaded walk between sights. For an evening meal, try grilled fish around the Old Market, then browse its lanes once the heat eases.
