Visiting Pattaya in October
October: wet season
Pattaya stays warm, but October is one of its wettest, cloudiest months. Rain falls on 27 days, and the air feels sticky. The sea can be rough, so don't count on a full day at Pattaya Beach or a smooth boat trip to Koh Larn.
You can still fit in short outings between showers. Explore the Sanctuary of Truth in Naklua, or duck into Central Pattaya's shops when rain sets in. Evenings are warm, but wet pavements can make walking around Walking Street less pleasant.
Festivals and quieter streets
October may bring Pattaya's Vegetarian Festival, with food stalls and processions around the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Naklua. Dates change each year, so the festival won't always fall in October. Wan Ok Phansa, which marks the end of Buddhist Lent, also often falls this month.
If you hate crowds, October is usually calmer than the busy December-to-February season. It's part of the low season, so stays and tours may cost less than in peak months. Rain can still disrupt beach plans, though, and November is much drier.
Make rain work for you
Keep plans flexible rather than building your day around the beach. A shower can pass quickly, but with so much cloud and little sunshine, long stretches outdoors may feel damp rather than relaxing.
Travelling with kids? Save the Sanctuary of Truth for a break in the rain, and check conditions before heading to Koh Larn. For a local food stop, try Naklua during the Vegetarian Festival; stalls serve meat-free versions of Thai dishes. October's warm nights mean you can enjoy the food without needing a jacket, but bring a small umbrella for the walk back.
