June weather

June is warm, very humid and cloudy in Palikir. The high and low barely differ, and rain falls on most days. You'll often get a brief break in the showers, but don't count on a dry day.

Nan Madol's stone ruins are still worth visiting, though muddy paths and rising water can make exploring harder. A short trip to Kepirohi Waterfall works well in wet weather, but take care on slick rocks. Long hikes may feel tiring in the sticky air.

Events and local life

June doesn't have a major nationwide holiday or well-known annual festival in Palikir. It's a good month to focus on Pohnpei's sights and food instead. Try *sashimi*—raw fish, often served with local citrus—or visit Kolonia when you want a break from the rain.

If you hate crowds, June is likely to suit you. It's a quieter time than the better-weather months of February and August, with fewer visitors around popular sights. Room rates may also be lower than in those busier months, though choices can be limited.

Getting around

Rain is heavy in May and July too, so June sits within a very wet stretch rather than being a dry-season bargain. Build flexibility into your plans: a downpour can slow road trips, and outdoor visits may be less comfortable than a relaxed stop in Kolonia.

For Kepirohi, check the falls from the viewing area before stepping closer. The rocks can be slick after rain, even when the path looks manageable.
