Nantong Weather in April

Mild days for exploring

April is one of the best months to visit Nantong, and October to November is the other good stretch. Afternoons warm up to about 21°C, but mornings and evenings can still feel cool, around 9°C. March is colder and May is much hotter, with highs near 27°C, so April sits in the sweet spot. It's fairly humid, and rain falls on several days, so you'll more likely get a damp spell than a full washout.

That mix suits walks around Haohe River and visits to Nantong Museum. You'll have enough daylight to fit both into one day, with time for a meal near the old town. Save long outdoor plans for clearer spells, though. Wet paths can make a climb up Langshan Mountain less pleasant.

Qingming and local travel

Qingming Festival usually falls in early April, and it's a big family occasion. People visit to tend their ancestors' graves, so travel can pick up around the holiday. Some locals also head out for spring outings, which makes popular spots busier than they would be on an ordinary weekday.

Outside the holiday, April is generally calmer than the summer school break and October's National Day holiday. Prices are often gentler in those quieter weeks, though Qingming can bring a short-lived rise in demand.
