April feels like thaw

Moscow in April is spring, but it can still feel wintry. Days reach 9°C, while nights can fall to 0°C. Rain comes on 11 days, and the sky is often cloudy. You'll get nearly 14 hours of daylight, but only about five hours of sun each day.

The weather suits museum visits, café stops and walks between sights when pavements are dry. Red Square and the Kremlin are still worth seeing, but muddy paths can make long strolls in Gorky Park less pleasant. Save countryside hikes for later in spring.

Events and quieter streets
