August: warm and rainy

August feels warm, sticky and often cloudy in León. Days reach 28°C, while evenings cool to around 15°C. Rain falls on 22 days, so expect showers to interrupt plans, especially later in the day. It's wetter than September, but a little drier than July.

You can still explore the Templo Expiatorio or browse the shops around Plaza del Zapato between showers. Save long outdoor visits to Parque Metropolitano for a dry spell, and don't count on a full day at nearby outdoor sights. The rain can make muddy paths less pleasant.

For a rainy afternoon, head to the Museo de Arte e Historia de Guanajuato inside Forum Cultural Guanajuato, then eat near the centre. Try guacamayas, León's crusty bread rolls filled with pork crackling and salsa. They're easier to enjoy under cover than on a wet walk.
