Mild days by the Yellow River

April is one of Lanzhou's best months for a city visit. Days can reach 20°C, while nights fall to 5°C, so afternoons feel pleasant and evenings turn chilly. Rain comes on some days, but most of the month is workable for exploring.

Walk along the Yellow River and cross Zhongshan Bridge, then visit the Gansu Provincial Museum. You'll get comfortable sightseeing weather without May's higher rain total. Save longer outdoor plans for dry spells, and don't count on warm evenings by the water.

Qingming and spring crowds

Qingming, the tomb-sweeping holiday, usually falls in early April. Families visit graves and some travel around the country, so trains and popular sights can feel busier around the holiday. Dates change each year.
