Best Time to Visit Kralendijk

Dry months, December to June

Kralendijk stays warm all year, so the real split is wet and dry. From December to June you get the best of it. Days are around 27 to 28°C, the trade wind keeps things comfortable, and rain is short and rare. February, March and April are the driest. March and April each get about 10 mm.

Humidity is high in every month, so afternoons can feel sticky even when it's dry. The breeze along the waterfront helps. Diving and snorkelling are good all year, but these months give the easiest boat trips and the clearest days for the shore dives along the coast road.

July to September: warm and mostly fine

Rain picks up a little, with 10 to 12 wet days a month by August and September. Showers tend to be passing, so you can still plan beach time at Te Amo Beach or a drive to Washington Slagbaai National Park. It's hotter now, with highs of 29°C by August. Sun hours are decent, especially in August.

If you want fewer people and a gentler price tag, this is a good middle ground. Travelling with kids? The school holidays in Europe and North America fall in July and August, so expect more families around the dive shops and hotels.

October and November: the wet spell

These are the months to avoid if you can. November is the rainiest, with 103 mm over 16 days. October isn't far behind, at 17 wet days. Skies are grey more often, and some days the rain just sits there. The sea stays warm, but you'll lose the easy, sunny feel.

On the plus side, it's quiet. If you don't mind a few lost afternoons and love empty dive sites, it can work. Pack a book for the downtime.

Events through the year

Bonaire's calendar is built around local culture and the sea. Carnival runs in the weeks before Lent, usually February or early March, with parades and music. King's Day on 27 April turns Kralendijk into a street party, with orange everywhere and live bands. In late August or September, the Bonaire Sailing Regatta brings colourful boats and crowds to the bay. Dec brings festive lights along the waterfront, and it's the start of the best weather.

If you want sun, events and good sea conditions in one trip, April is hard to beat.
