November weather

Kowloon feels warm and mostly comfortable in November. Afternoons reach 25°C, while evenings cool to around 19°C. Rain is lighter than in October, with showers on about six days, so you can spend plenty of time outside.

It's a good month for walking the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, browsing Temple Street Night Market or taking the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbour. The cooler air also suits a climb up Lion Rock, though damp paths after rain can be slippery. Skip long hikes on wet days, and don't expect much beach weather at nearby Shek O.

Events and local life

The Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival is often held in autumn, sometimes in November. It's a chance to try local dishes and wines, but its dates vary, so check whether it falls during your stay. Chung Yeung Festival can also land in November. Families visit ancestral graves, and some head for hikes such as the route to Kowloon Peak.

If you hate crowds, avoid popular trails on Chung Yeung Festival day. It's a public holiday, and paths can be busier than usual.

Crowds and practical tips

November is one of Hong Kong's most comfortable months, so visitor numbers rise after the hot, rainy summer. Hotels can cost more than in quieter summer months, especially around major events. It's still generally less packed than the Christmas and Lunar New Year travel periods.

For a Kowloon-specific treat, visit a clay-pot rice shop in Yau Ma Tei or Mong Kok on a cool evening. The rice cooks in a clay pot until it forms a crisp layer at the bottom. If you're taking the Star Ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui, go near sunset for harbour views before dinner.
