February is one of Kolkata's easiest months for getting around. Days feel warm and mostly sunny, while evenings are cooler. The high reaches 30°C and the low 15°C, so you can explore without March's stronger heat. Rain is limited to a few days.

It's a good time for the Victoria Memorial gardens, a walk along the Maidan, or a boat ride on the Hooghly. You can also browse College Street without the sticky feel of the hotter months. Skip long outdoor walks in the middle of the day if you find warm weather tiring.

Events and crowds

Saraswati Puja, a festival honouring the goddess of learning, often falls in February. You'll see yellow clothes, flowers and small celebrations across the city, especially near schools and colleges. Dates change each year. The Kolkata International Book Fair can also run into February, depending on its schedule.

If you hate crowds, avoid the busiest Book Fair days and the streets around its grounds. February is still a popular time to visit, but the December and January peak has passed. Rooms and flights may feel less pressured than in those months, though weekends and festival dates can still be busy.
