Iztapalapa Weather in March

March: sunny days, cool nights

March is one of the easiest months for exploring Iztapalapa on foot. Afternoons feel warm and mostly sunny, with a high of 26°C. Rain is limited, so you can visit the Museo del Fuego Nuevo or walk around the Central de Abasto without often losing time to showers.

Evenings cool quickly, though, with lows of 9°C. The air can feel chilly after sunset, especially if you're watching an outdoor performance. April is hotter and wetter, while February is a little cooler and drier.

Passion Play crowds

Iztapalapa's famous Passion Play takes place around Easter, so it can fall in March or April. It follows the final days of Jesus' life through local streets and up toward Cerro de la Estrella. The event draws very large crowds, and street closures can make getting around the centre harder.

If you hate crowds, check whether the play falls during your visit and choose another day for the hill. March 21 also marks Benito Juárez's birthday; the public holiday is observed on the third Monday of March, and schools may close.

What it costs and where to go

Outside Easter week, March is generally a more comfortable time for crowds and prices than the busy holiday period. It's not as quiet as the low season, though, and spring-break travel can add visitors. Compared with November to February, expect more demand when Easter falls in March.

Travelling with kids? Head to Parque Cuitláhuac for open space, then try tlacoyos from a local market stall. For Cerro de la Estrella, use the access near the Museo del Fuego Nuevo; it's an easy landmark for finding the hill's main approach.
