Visiting Islamabad in February
February weather
February feels like winter easing into spring, and it's a good month to visit, though not the best one. Afternoons are mild, but evenings around the Faisal Mosque can still feel cool. Our rating is Excellent at 8.7/10, with some rain and cloud mixed in.
Conditions are comfortable enough for exploring the Pakistan Monument or strolling through Saidpur Village. Rain falls on several days, though, so a wet spell can derail your plans. There's more rain than in January, but March turns a little drier, so if you can flex your dates, keep that in mind.
What to do
Clear spells are your chance for a trip up to Daman-e-Koh, where you can look out over Islamabad. Save any long hike for a dry day, since the Margalla Hills trails turn muddy after rain. If clouds settle in, the city's museums and cafés are an easy fallback.
If you hate crowds, February suits you. It falls just outside the November-to-January stretch that's considered best overall, so it's usually quieter than those peak months, and stays may cost less, though prices vary.
Events and local tips
Kashmir Solidarity Day falls on February 5 and is a public holiday in Pakistan. Islamabad may host official events, and some services or shops can close, so keep that day flexible.
A practical tip: take the road to Daman-e-Koh for the view, but don't count on a clear skyline after rain. If the hills are cloudy, head to Faisal Mosque instead. Its striking setting is still worth seeing up close.
