November in Gustavia feels warm and humid, with little change between day and night. Rain falls on many days, so expect showers to interrupt beach time or a walk around the harbour. The sea and warm air still suit swimming, but keep sightseeing flexible.

You can browse the shops and cafés along Rue de la République between showers, or visit Fort Karl when the path is dry. Save a long beach day for a brighter spell. The view from the fort is lovely, but wet stone steps can be slippery.

All Saints' Day and Armistice Day are French public holidays observed in Saint Barthélemy. Some shops and services may close, so don't count on every errand being possible. Gustavia's harbour and waterfront are still easy places to spend time.

November doesn't bring the island's best-known high-season events. The major festive rush comes later, as visitors arrive for winter. If you're hoping for a quiet meal near the harbour, November is a calmer bet than the Christmas and New Year period.

Crowds may pick up toward the end of the month, but Gustavia is usually easier to explore than in high season.

If you hate crowds, this is a good time to browse the harbour without the winter rush. Travelling with kids? Keep a rainy-day stop in mind, such as the Wall House museum near the harbour. For Fort Karl, take the path from the end of Rue August Nyman, and skip the climb if rain has left the steps slick.
