October's cooler days

October feels much easier than September in Gujranwala. Days reach 33°C, but evenings cool to around 19°C. Rain is limited, and the air is less humid, so you can spend time outdoors without September's heavier, stickier weather.

The Clock Tower and old city streets are good for a daytime wander, while an evening meal of Gujranwala-style barbecue suits the cooler hours. It's still too warm for long walks in the midday sun, and October isn't the best month for a lush, rainy landscape. If you want milder days, November to February is a better bet.

Events and local life

There isn't a major fixed October festival in Gujranwala that draws visitors each year. Eid Milad-un-Nabi, a celebration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday, may fall in October in some years, but its date follows the lunar calendar. If it coincides with your visit, expect religious gatherings and changes to normal opening hours.

Travelling with kids? The dry weather makes a visit to Jinnah Stadium more comfortable than during the rainy end of summer, though it can still feel hot around midday.

Crowds and a local tip

October is a shoulder-season month: it's generally quieter than the popular winter months, when the weather is cooler. You may find less pressure on hotels and restaurants than in winter, but don't count on every price being lower.

For dinner, head towards the food spots around the Clock Tower and ask for local barbecue. Go in the evening, when the temperature has eased and the streets feel livelier. The short drive to Eminabad is another option for a history stop; visit its historic Gurdwara Rori Sahib, then return to town for a meal.
