Cool days outdoors

June feels like winter in Curitiba: afternoons are cool, mornings and evenings colder, and clouds often soften the light. Rain falls on several days, so outdoor plans can get damp. Still, the weather is comfortable for walking around the historic centre or visiting the Botanical Garden's glass greenhouse.

The city's parks are lovely in the cooler air, but skip a long outdoor day if rain is settling in. With shorter daylight, you'll have less time for late-afternoon walks than in summer.

June celebrations

Festa Junina celebrations bring bonfires, folk dancing and seasonal treats to Curitiba. Look for events around the June feast days of Saint Anthony, Saint John and Saint Peter; dates and venues vary. Corpus Christi can also fall in June, with church services and street decorations.

If you hate crowds, June is usually calmer than the busy summer holiday period. Brazilian school breaks tend to come in July, so you're ahead of that peak. Prices are often less pressured than in high season, though local festivals and holiday weekends can bring more visitors.

Make the most of it

Travelling with kids? A rainy spell is a good time for the Oscar Niemeyer Museum, known locally as the "Eye" for its striking shape. It gives you an indoor break without giving up a distinctly Curitiba sight.

For a practical plan, use the city's covered Rua XV de Novembro pedestrian street for a central stroll when the weather turns showery. You can duck into cafés, then visit the nearby historic Largo da Ordem when skies clear. June is cooler and wetter than May, but July is a little drier, so keep outdoor plans flexible.
