Quiet season, few events

Make the cold work for you

Anshan's dry winter weather is better for a focused city visit than a full day of hiking. Pair the Jade Buddha Palace with a warm meal, then save Qianshan for a clear day when trails look safe. The cold is more severe than in November, so don't expect a mild shoulder-season feel.

A local tip: check conditions before taking the Qianshan scenic-area shuttle, since mountain access and walking routes can be limited by ice. Keep a nearby indoor stop in mind rather than counting on a long trail day.
