February feels like winter

February is still winter in Ankara. Days can feel chilly and cloudy, with a little rain or the chance of frost after dark. It's milder than January, but don't expect spring: March is wetter and warmer.

There's no major fixed national holiday in Turkey during February. Valentine's Day is marked by some restaurants and shops, though it isn't a public holiday. Dates for Ramadan and its related celebrations shift each year, so they don't always fall in February.

If you hate crowds, February is a quieter time to visit than the popular spring and autumn months. You'll generally find fewer visitors at sights such as Anıtkabir, and accommodation demand is often lower than in peak season. Prices vary, but February can be a better-value choice than April to June or September to October.
