April is one of Aleppo's best months for exploring. Afternoons feel warm, while mornings and evenings are cooler. Rain is possible, but it's usually brief enough not to rule out a day around the Citadel or the Old City.

You'll have comfortable conditions for walking through the historic souks and stopping for lunch at a restaurant in Al-Jdeydeh. The Citadel's open slopes can feel exposed in midday sun, so save them for a cooler part of the day. May gets much hotter, while March is cooler and wetter.

April is spring shoulder season, not the peak heat of summer. Crowds are generally easier than in the hottest months, and prices may feel less pressured than during busier periods. Conditions and access can vary, so don't assume every historic site or souk is open.

If you hate crowds, go to the Old Souk earlier in the day, when its narrow lanes are easier to navigate. Travelling with kids? The Citadel's uneven stone paths can be tiring, so keep that visit short. For a local stop, try Aleppo's famous kibbeh, a spiced meat-and-bulgur dish; restaurants in Al-Jdeydeh are a good place to look.
