Visiting Agadir in August
August heat
Agadir is hot and very dry in August. Daytime highs reach 38°C, matching July, while nights stay warm at 25°C. Rain is rare, and long sunny days suit the beach and evening walks along the Corniche. The weather feels less comfortable for long sightseeing trips, though: save the Kasbah Oufella visit for later in the day, and avoid exposed walks in the afternoon.
Families with young children may find the beach easier to enjoy in the cooler morning and evening hours.
Events and summer crowds
August is a busy summer-holiday month, with Moroccan families and overseas visitors adding to the beach crowds. Hotels and flights can cost more than in the quieter months, especially November to April, when Agadir's weather is generally better for exploring.
Morocco marks the Revolution of the King and the People on August 20, followed by Youth Day on August 21. You may see public celebrations, though the feel of the holiday varies from year to year. Don't count on a large event in Agadir itself.
Getting around
Pick activities that work in the heat: swim, relax by the shore, or browse Souk El Had, Agadir's large covered market. Its shaded aisles offer a break from the sun, and you can try local amlou, a spread made with almonds, argan oil and honey.
For the Kasbah Oufella, take the cable car rather than walking up in the midday heat. The ride also gives you a view over the bay. If August feels too hot, nearby Essaouira is a cooler-weather alternative; September in Agadir is less hot, but still warm.
