Riyadh Weather in April

Warm days, cooler evenings

April feels like a step into summer in Riyadh. Afternoons reach 34°C, while evenings are milder. Rain is rare, so you can usually count on dry days for exploring.

Visit Diriyah's mud-brick At-Turaif district or walk around the National Museum in the morning. Save outdoor sightseeing for later in the day, and avoid long walks in the afternoon heat. May is hotter still, with highs of 40°C.

If you hate crowds, April is a calmer choice than the busy winter months.

April events and holidays

There isn't one major annual Riyadh festival that reliably falls in April. Eid al-Fitr can land in April in some years, as its date follows the Islamic lunar calendar. When it does, expect family gatherings, changed opening hours and more local travel.

Check the calendar for your travel year before settling on museum visits or restaurant plans. If Eid overlaps your stay, enjoy the evening atmosphere around Boulevard City, but allow extra time for busy roads.

Crowds, costs and a local tip

Riyadh's main visitor season is November to February, when the weather is more comfortable for long days outside. April is generally quieter, and accommodation can cost less than in those peak months. Eid may bring a short-lived jump in demand.

For a practical warm-weather stop, take the Riyadh Metro to the National Museum and spend the hottest part of the day indoors. Then head to nearby Al-Murabba to see King Abdulaziz's historic palace. Try kabsa, a spiced rice dish often served with meat, at a restaurant in the area.
