December weather

December feels warm, sticky and often cloudy in Quezon City. The high is 28°C and humidity reaches 89%, while rain falls on 27 days. November is also wet, but December gets more rain; January is much drier. Bring indoor plans for sudden showers, and don't count on long sunny spells.

You can still visit the Quezon Memorial Circle between showers, or spend a rainy afternoon at the National Museum of Natural History in nearby Manila. La Mesa Eco Park is less appealing after heavy rain, when paths can be muddy. With only 2.6 hours of sun a day on average, keep beach plans for another trip.

Christmas in the city

December brings Christmas celebrations, including Simbang Gabi, a series of Catholic dawn or evening Masses before Christmas. Churches and shopping centres put up decorations, and malls can feel especially busy as people shop and meet family.

Travelling with kids? Quezon Memorial Circle's open spaces can be a welcome break, but check the weather before setting out.

Crowds and getting around

Christmas and New Year make this a popular time for family visits and shopping. Compared with quieter months, flights and hotels can cost more, while malls and roads get crowded. Quezon City traffic can make short trips slow, especially around major shopping areas.

A practical way to dodge some EDSA traffic is to use the MRT-3 for trips near its Quezon City stations, such as North Avenue or Quezon Avenue. If you hate crowds, go to popular malls on weekday mornings rather than weekends. December isn't the best month for easy outdoor sightseeing; February and March usually offer better weather.
