Palma Weather in April

Mild days, changeable skies

April feels like spring in Palma: mild for wandering, but not reliably warm enough for long swims. The average high is 17°C, and rain falls on about seven days, so a shower can interrupt a stroll. You'll still get plenty of useful daylight for sightseeing.

The old town's narrow streets and Palma Cathedral are good choices when clouds gather. On brighter days, walk the seafront or take the bus to Cala Major, though the sea may feel chilly. Save a full beach day for later in spring, when temperatures rise.

Easter and Sant Jordi

If Easter falls in April, Palma's Semana Santa processions bring solemn parades through the old town. They're worth seeing, but streets can close and crowds gather along the routes. Sant Jordi, on April 23, is another local celebration, with books and roses sold around the city.

April is generally quieter and less expensive than the busy summer months, though Easter can push up demand. May is warmer and drier, while July and August bring much larger beach crowds. For couples who enjoy a city break without peak-season heat, April's comfortable walking weather is a good fit.

A little local planning

Rain doesn't have to spoil a day: duck into the covered Mercat de l'Olivar, near Plaça d'Espanya, and try pa amb oli, bread with olive oil and toppings. For a clear afternoon, follow the waterfront towards Portixol, a former fishing area with a relaxed seafront path.

One useful Palma-specific tip: check whether the Cathedral's terraces are open before making them your main plan. Their views are lovely, but wet weather can affect access. Keep the nearby Arab Baths in mind as a smaller indoor stop in the old town.
