June: rain shapes the day

June is warm, sticky and very wet. Rain falls on most days, and thick cloud leaves little bright sunshine. You'll likely get some dry spells, but outdoor plans can be interrupted by showers.

Onitsha Main Market works better than a long riverside walk when rain sets in. Keep sightseeing flexible, and avoid counting on a full day outdoors. The nearby Niger Bridge can be slow to cross during heavy rain, so leave extra time if you're heading to Asaba.
