December and January are the best months overall, so February comes after the main winter peak. You may find fewer visitors than in those months, though local crowds still gather around the souq and Friday ceremonies. Prices can ease after the peak, but don't count on a big drop.

If you hate crowds, visit the souq on a weekday rather than Friday. For the Hamed al-Nil gathering, ask locally about the timing and dress respectfully. If you're visiting during Ramadan, remember that some cafés may close during daylight hours.
