Nicosia stays hot in September, though it's a good deal gentler than August. Daytime highs reach 33°C, and evenings stay warm, around 23°C. Rain is scarce, so you can expect mostly dry days, with only a couple of showers at most.

The heat suits a slow visit to the Cyprus Museum or the shaded lanes around Laiki Geitonia. Save long walks along the Green Line or through the old city for later in the day, since a midday climb around the Venetian walls can feel punishing.

Events and holidays

September isn't a major public-holiday month in Cyprus. Independence Day falls on October 1, so you'll just miss the official celebrations. Cultural events start to return after the summer, but dates and programmes vary, so check ahead if a specific event matters to you.
