July: deep in the rainy season

July in Monrovia is warm, sticky and very cloudy. Rain falls on most days, often making afternoons a poor time for long walks or beach plans. The showers can interrupt sightseeing, and wet roads may slow trips across the city.

You can still visit the National Museum of Liberia or browse central Monrovia between showers. Keep outdoor plans flexible, and don't count on much sunshine for a beach day. The rain eases a little compared with August, but July is still a very wet month.

Quieter, but wet

July is low season for visitors compared with the drier months from December to February. You'll generally find fewer tourists, and stays may offer better value, though prices vary. The trade-off is persistent rain and limited sun.

For a practical city tip, leave extra time for trips along Tubman Boulevard when showers are heavy. If rain catches you near Waterside, pause indoors rather than trying to cross busy streets in a downpour. The air stays humid even when the rain stops.
