Warm beach days

October is warm in Maceió, with highs around 29°C and nights staying near 24°C. It also rates excellent on our comfort score at 8.8 out of 10. There's plenty of daylight for a walk along Ponta Verde or a swim at Pajuçara, and the sea and city sights both fit comfortably into one day.

Rain is lower than in September, but showers still fall on several days. When one interrupts a long beach afternoon, keep indoor options like the Théo Brandão Museum in mind, and don't count on dry weather every day.

October on the calendar

October 12 is a national holiday in Brazil for Our Lady of Aparecida. It's also Children's Day, so family attractions and travel routes can feel busier around it. Maceió doesn't have a major October festival that draws crowds like Carnival does.

If you hate crowds, skip the holiday weekend at Pajuçara's waterfront and natural pools. Outside that stretch, October is usually calmer and less costly than Brazil's summer peak, especially December and January. September to December is the best window for Maceió, and November is nearly as good, with slightly less rain and a touch more heat.

Pajuçara and the tides

Travelling with kids? A jangada, a small traditional sail raft, takes visitors from Pajuçara beach to its natural pools when the tide is low. Ask locally about the day's tide before you set out, since the pools aren't equally accessible at every time.

October's warm evenings suit dinner by the shore, with sururu, a local shellfish stew, on the menu. If showers pass through, the Mercado do Artesanato in Pajuçara gives you a covered place to browse local crafts. Just don't plan a full day around the pools without checking tide conditions first.
