June feels hot and showery

June is full-on summer in Key West. Days feel hot and sticky, and rain is common, though it often comes in passing showers rather than lasting all day. The sea can still be inviting, but thunderstorms can disrupt boat trips and time on the water.

Choose indoor stops such as the Key West Shipwreck Treasure Museum when showers roll through. For outdoor time, visit Fort Zachary Taylor early, before the heat builds. Skip long walks along exposed stretches of Duval Street in the stickiest part of the day.

Pride and summer crowds

Key West Pride brings parties and events to town in June. Dates vary, so check the event schedule if you want to join in—or prefer a quieter stay.

If you hate crowds, avoid Pride events and stay outside the busiest parts of Old Town. June is generally quieter and less expensive than the winter high season, especially January and February. Still, Pride can make some hotels and bars busier around its events.

Make rain work for you
