October days outdoors

October is one of Gaziantep's best months, with warm afternoons and cooler evenings. Days reach about 25°C, while nights fall to around 12°C. It's a comfortable time to explore the old streets around Bakırcılar Çarşısı, the copper market, or spend a few hours at Gaziantep Castle.

There's plenty of sun, but rain falls on about five days. A shower can interrupt a long walk, so keep indoor sights like the Zeugma Mosaic Museum in mind. You'll get a better feel for the city than in September, when afternoons are much hotter. November is cooler and wetter, too.

October events and crowds

October doesn't have a major food festival that reliably takes place in the city. Republic Day, on October 29, brings celebrations across Turkey. You may see flags and local events, though some public services and businesses can close for the holiday.

October is a popular month because the weather is pleasant, so it isn't the quietest time to visit. Still, it's outside the summer heat and school-holiday rush. Prices can be more manageable than during busier holiday periods, but they vary by hotel and date.

If you hate crowds, visit the castle and the Zeugma Museum on a weekday.

Make room for baklava

Cooler evenings are a good excuse to linger over dinner. Try local baklava, made with pistachios, at a bakery in the old city; it's a specialty Gaziantep is famous for.

One practical tip: visit Bakırcılar Çarşısı before sitting down for baklava nearby. The market's narrow lanes are easier to browse before the afternoon crowds gather, and you can watch copper workers hammering pots and trays. Carry a small umbrella for the occasional shower, especially if you're walking between the market and the castle.
