Fuzhou Weather in April

April: warm and damp

April feels mild to warm in Fuzhou, but the air is often humid and the sky stays cloudy. Rain falls on many days, so you may get a shower during a walk through Wenchangli's old streets. The rain also keeps parks and hills green.

You can still enjoy city sightseeing, especially when you can duck indoors between showers. A long outdoor day is less reliable, and muddy paths can make countryside walks less pleasant. April is warmer and wetter than March, with May bringing more heat and rain.

Qingming and crowds

Qingming, the Tomb-Sweeping holiday, falls in early April. Families visit ancestral graves, and trains and roads can get busier around the holiday. It's a time for remembrance, not a citywide festival, so don't expect special events on every street.

Outside that holiday, April is usually calmer than peak travel periods. October is considered the best month to visit, so April can feel like a quieter shoulder-season choice. Prices may be easier than during popular holiday weeks, but expect more demand around Qingming.

Make a rainy-day plan

Keep Tang Xianzu Memorial Hall in mind for a wet afternoon. It's a good indoor stop tied to Fuzhou's famous playwright, and it pairs naturally with a walk around nearby Wenchangli when the rain eases.

Rain can make a full day of wandering old lanes feel tiring, so split your sightseeing into shorter outings. If you're heading beyond the city for hills or rural sights, be ready to change plans when paths are wet. A covered stop in town can save the day without turning April's showers into a reason to stay in.
