Best Time to Visit Faridabad

November to February: the best stretch

These four months are the easiest time to be outside. Days are mild and dry, and the air feels crisp rather than heavy. December and January nights drop to a cool 9°C and 7°C, so you'll want a jacket after dark. Mornings can be foggy, which sometimes slows trains and flights into Delhi.

This is the season for Surajkund, a lakeside area on the edge of town. The Surajkund International Crafts Mela runs in early February. It's a big craft fair with stalls from across India and from abroad. Weekends get packed, so go on a weekday if you hate crowds. Diwali usually falls in October or November. Expect lights, sweets and loud fireworks in the markets of Sector 15 and NIT.

March and October: the shoulder months

Both months rate Good, and both are warm in the afternoon but pleasant otherwise. March brings Holi, the colour festival, so wear clothes you don't mind ruining. October is the sunniest month, with the monsoon gone and the air clearing. It's a good pick for Damdama Lake or the Aravalli trails near Surajkund, where the hills are still green after the rains. Travelling with kids? October gives you long clear days without the winter chill.

April to June: the hot months

It's hard going. May and June both reach 42°C, tying for the hottest, and June nights only fall to 30°C. April is drier but already 39°C. Afternoons are the time to be indoors, in a mall or a cool café. Outdoor sightseeing is only comfortable very early or after sunset. If you must visit, keep plans light and drink plenty of nimbu pani (salted lime water) from street stalls.

July to September: monsoon

July is the wettest month, with rain on 22 days, and August is close behind. It's sticky and grey, and roads in low areas can flood. The upside is fewer visitors and greener hills. September is still humid and rainy, so it's not much better for travel. If you come now, keep your days flexible and plan indoor stops.

Faridabad isn't a big tourist stop, so there's no true high season. Most visitors come on business or as a day trip from Delhi. Hotels are quietest in the heat and the rains.
