December is one of Dhaka's most comfortable months. Days are warm, evenings feel cool, and rain is rare. You'll get plenty of sunshine for exploring the old lanes of Shankhari Bazaar or visiting Lalbagh Fort without the sticky heat of other months.

Victory Day on December 16 brings ceremonies and crowds, especially at the National Martyrs' Memorial. Christmas on December 25 is marked by services and celebrations, including around Dhaka's churches. For Victory Day, allow extra time for the journey to Savar, where road traffic can be slow.

If you hate crowds, avoid the memorial on Victory Day itself and visit on another day. December is part of Dhaka's popular winter season, so hotels can be in higher demand than during the rainy months. The pleasant weather draws visitors, but the city is still busy year-round.

Getting around Dhaka in December

December's clear, dry days suit sightseeing and city walks better than the wet months. You can explore Dhaka University and the nearby Shahbag area without worrying much about rain. Skip long outdoor plans in the evening if you feel the cooler air; choose a restaurant instead.

Travelling with kids? A daytime visit to the National Museum in Shahbag is an easier outing than negotiating Old Dhaka's crowded lanes.
