February is part of Cox's Bazar's popular dry-season stretch, and the beaches can feel busy, especially on weekends. Hotels and transport often cost more than in the rainy season, when fewer people visit. January is also a dry-season favourite, so February isn't a quiet escape.

Bangladesh observes Language Martyrs' Day on February 21, with tributes to those killed during the 1952 language movement. You may see memorial events and some changes to opening hours. For families who want calm beach time, weekdays are a better bet than the weekend rush.

A useful local tip

Take Marine Drive south toward Inani rather than treating the main beach at Laboni Point as your only stop. The road gives you a more varied coastal day, with Himchari along the way and a less crowded stretch of sand at Inani. Ask your driver to agree on the return trip before setting off, as transport can be less easy to find farther down the coast.

February's long sunny days make this route pleasant, but the midday sun can feel strong on the open beach. Keep your Himchari stop for the cooler part of the day, then enjoy the shoreline at Inani.
