Conakry Weather in April

April: hot, mostly dry days

April feels hot from morning into evening, with highs around 30°C and lows near 26°C. Humidity is high, but rain is limited to a few days, so you can usually fit in a visit to the National Museum or a walk around the Kaloum peninsula. The strong sun can make long sightseeing walks tiring by midday; save outdoor time for shorter outings.

If you hate crowds, April is a comfortable time for a city visit. It's near the end of Conakry's November-to-April dry season, and it's generally quieter than the busy winter months. Prices may also be gentler than during peak season, though they vary by hotel and week.

What's on in April

There isn't a fixed major national holiday in Guinea in April. Eid al-Fitr can fall in April in some years, as its date follows the Islamic lunar calendar. If it does, expect changes to opening hours and a more festive feel around local mosques and markets.

For a taste of everyday Conakry, try grilled fish with rice at a restaurant along the Corniche Nord. It's a good evening plan when the heat eases, and the sea views make a welcome break from the city's busy streets.

A good time for the coast

April is a useful month for short coastal trips, but don't count on every day being clear: cloud cover and occasional showers are part of the picture. May brings a sharp rise in rain, so April is a better bet for visiting Îles de Los by boat.

Travelling with kids? Keep walks around Kaloum short in the hottest part of the day, then take a break indoors before heading out again.
